Do you believe hyperlocal is going places?
There’s a whole gaggle of folk plugging themselves into their community to explore what’s going on below the surface. Whether it’s the state of the food scene, the rolling tide of neighbourhood news, or the ups and downs of the music circuit, there’s enough in small communities to keep a vibrant site ticking.
This is why Talk About Local sticks its big blue stamp in the calendar every year for the TAL unconference. The event – which lands in Middlesbrough for the first time in 2013 – is a gathering of hyperlocal publishers designed to allow people to share how they’ve been getting on, what they’ve learned, and to meet a few people trekking the same trail.
This year it’s partnering up with The Culture Vulture, which sniffs out some of the most interesting cultural happenings taking place in Yorkshire, and it’ll feature conversations, talks and even awards.
It’s taking place at the Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art from 11am on Saturday September 28. Pop over here for more details on the event, or here to snap up the last remaining early bird tickets.
